An early morning 5-vehicle accident today started when a Honda Accord collided with an 18-wheeler truck, causing debris to enter the roadway.
Soon after, two other vehicles were hit with debris, and the drivers pulled over and exited their vehicles to see what he had hit. A Ford Explorer, apparently trying to avoid the debris, hit one of the pedestrians who was walking on the side of the interstate.
The pedestrian was the only person injured in this accident, which caused a lengthy back-up on I-65 this morning. The accident occurred between Prattville and Montgomery.
Alabama State Troopers advise motorists involved in a similar situation of hitting debris in the road to do the following:
Stay in your vehicle, and put on your hazard lights.
Call the Highway Patrol or local police, and wait for them to arrive.
