A truck accident in Macon County between Christmas and New Year’s caused a major traffic jam on I-85, as it remained closed for the better part of the day to repair a damaged bridge.
The Alabama Department of Transportation reported that a tanker truck crashed into a northbound bridge near mile marker 38 at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 29. Fortunately, the truck driver only incurred only minor injuries.
Crews worked around the clock to repair the bridge so that motorists could travel on the road. The road reopened to traffic in the evening.
