A report from Firehouse.com, a fire rescue news source, says an Alabama firefighter was trapped under an SUV following a traffic accident and had stopped breathing. Witnesses were able to lift the vehicle and free the firefighter, who miraculously came out of the indicent with only a chipped ankle.

The motor vehicle accident occurred when firefighters were responding to a medical emergency in the parking lot of a Huntsville bank. A vehicle reportedly hit three other firefighters, who were injured, and the SUV rolled onto the fourth firefighter.

The quick action taken by these heroes who witnessed the accident probably saved the firefighter’s life. It’s fortunate this accident was not much worse. It serves as a reminder for drivers to take extra caution when emergency personnel are doing their jobs.
