Lakeland Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident

A 21-year-old man from Lakeland was killed in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday. The man collided with a semi-truck on a road in Polk County.

At 11:20 p.m., a 2005 black Yamaha 600 sport motorcycle was traveling northbound on County Line Road just south of Interstate 4 in Lakeland when it struck the trailer of a 2000 white Kenworth tractor-trailer, the Sheriff’s Office said. The truck was pulling out of Great Oak Drive to travel south on County Line Road.

The motorcycle driver was prounounced dead on the scene. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident. It is unknown if there were any contributing factors to the accident.
